Niseko Cycle Week 2009 Recap! Niseko Cycle Week 2009 kicked off under sunny skies and great conditions on Sunday, August 30th. The morning road ride was picture perfect and the large contingent of local and overseas cyclists were blown away by the spectacular scenery enjoyed on the Higashiyama –Niseko Town area route. The Cross Country race held at Niseko Village featured Cyclists being blown away again- but this time by the challenges of the hilly and long course. After the event, the recovering cyclist recharged with some delicious BBQ provided by Hokkaido BBQ College. The road rides throughout the week continue to highlight the great vistas and perfect cycling terrain the Niseko area has on offer. On Wednesday, at the downhill runs on the D-sen course, born from the sweat and dedication of the local mountain bike community, riders flew over the berms, jumps and transitions. Wednesday also saw the introduction of a new feature, Bike 2 Work, where local company employees road bicycles to work to promote ecology and healthy living. Over 20 local companies and 100 employees participated and we hope this event will continue to grow as more and more. Friday night saw the return of the Fire and Dirt Jump Jam at Black Diamond Lodge. Clayton put together a great set up this year. The music, coronas, jumps and atmosphere made for a wild and memorable party. Congratulations to Teppei Nakajima for pulling out the run of the night and walking home with the all-leather, Adidas tracksuit. The final weekend began with a road tour around Yotei, followed by practice runs on the downhill course from the Grand Hirafu Gondola and lastly speed races down the Hirafu Family Course. It was great day of cycling, with riders flying all over the Niseko terrain, enjoying all the resort had to offer.
The evening’s entertainment- the Cranked Movie Night -mountain bike films over burritos and tacos at Northfield Lodge, was a good chance to meet with like-minded enthusiasts and talk about the upcoming days races. Sunday was the week`s finalise with the morning Niseko Mountain Tour fast paced and full of alpine assaults. The Mountain Bike Timed Downhill featured an exciting finish as riders jockeyed for the positions throughout the day. Congratulations to Koji Takeuchi for taking home the prize for fastest on the day, with Orie Watanabe and Taiga Fujii winning in the women`s and junior divisions respectively. Afterwards, Dragon restaurant put on a sumptuous barbeque, while Yotei Daiko, Nachiko and Roger entertained the large crowd enjoying the late summer afternoon with their music. The weather was perfect and the potential of Niseko as a world class cycling destination was revealed in full throughout the whole week. The hard work and countless hours of preparation put in by the road cycling and mountain bike organizers paid of in the smoothness of the events. All involved, from the organizers to volunteers to participants should be commended for their efforts all week long.

ニセコサイクルウィーク2009いよいよ開催！ 8月30日（日） いよいよニセコビレッジで幕を開ける「ニセコサイクルウィーク2009」。初日のイベントはマウンテンバイククロスカントリーから始まります（受付-9：30、競技-11：00～14：00）。エリア内在住者はマウンテンバイク競技エントリーが全て半額で、一般・ジュニア・ビギナーと全レベルの方が参加できます。ヒルトンニセコビレッジ宿泊券、ピュアアクティビティ券、ヘルメット、バイク用品など豪華賞品も出場しなければもらえません！ 午前中はさらに中級者以上・参加費200円で参加できる、東山・ヒラフ周辺でのグループライドも開催（8：30 JoJo’s集合）。昼は北海道BBQカレッジによるステーキバーベキューが、大人1,500円・子供たったの500円！サイクルウィーク参加のために来日する台湾自転車協会のメンバーとも、是非この機会に交流を深めてください。サイクリングには最高の環境であるニセコを広く世界にアピールする一大イベントです。日曜日はぜひニセコビレッジにお越しください！！
Niseko Cycle Week 2009 kicks off on Sunday 30 August! Niseko Cycle Week 2009 kicks off on Sunday 30 August at Niseko Village! The opening day consists of the Mountain Bike Cross Country event. Registration starts at 9.30am with the race from 11am - 2pm. All MTB events are half price for locals so make sure you head out to Niseko Village for the race! All levels are welcome with categories for men, women, juniors and beginners! Great przies to be won including a nights stay at the Hilton, PURE passes, helmets, bike gear, etc. You need to be in it to win it!
Sunday morning also has a group road ride around Higashiyama and Hirafu, suitable for intermediate riders, only 200 yen, meet at Jojo`s at 8.30am.
The opening day will also have a Steak BBQ event by Hokkaido BBQ College, for only 1500 yen and 500 yen for children!
The Taiwan Cycling Federation are coming to Niseko for Niseko Cycle Week and will come to the BBQ to socialise with everyone and to see what a great place Niseko is for cycling. Join us at Niseko Village on Sunday! |

こんにちは！ 夏を皆さん満喫していますか？ニセコはお盆休みの間天気にも恵まれ沢山の方々が遊びに来ていました。
そして2009ニセコサイクルウィークまで２週間とせまって来ました！ 今年はニセコマウンテンバイククラブとしてMTBのイベントを８月30日から9月6日の8日間の中5日間、6イベントをオーガナイズします。 さてその6つのイベントというと・・・ １）MTB クロスカントリーレース in Niseko Village ２）MTB ダウンヒルオープンプラクティス in Grand-Hirafu ３）MTB シングルトラックダウンヒル in Grand-Hirafu ４）MTB ダウンヒルオープンプラクティス in Grand-Hirafu ５）MTB ファミリーゲレンデダウンヒル in Grand-Hirafu ６）MTB ダウンヒルレース in Grand-Hirafu です。 詳しくはイベント情報のページをご覧下さい。オレンジ色のイベントタイトルをクリックすると各イベントごとの内容が出てきます。 ここで簡単にイベントの個人的な紹介をしておくと・・・ 全ての２００９ニセコサイクルウィークMTBイベントはニセコエリアで行われ、未舗装路がメインになります。そのためそれに適したマウンテンバイクが必要です。（レンタルもあります、要問い合わせ） １）は２km程の登りあり下りありの元ゴルフ場の中の特設コースを走りタイムを競います。カテゴリー（年齢、性別、経験により距離や参加費が違います、詳しくは申し込み用紙のチャートを参考にして下さい）がいくつか別れているため、未舗装路を走った事のあるMTB経験者なら誰でも参加できるでしょう。コースの様子はこちらから。 この日はニセコサイクルウィークオープニングデイとして開会式と北海道BBQカレッジによるBBQパーティがレース会場で行われます。 ２）はスキー場のコース内に造られた２km程の下りのみのダウンヒルコースをゴンドラを利用して山腹まであがり走ります。長い距離の下りですのでMTB中級者以上で下りに適したマウンテンバイクをお持ちの方が対象になります。この日は練習日という事で1日ダウンヒルを楽しんで頂けます。コースの様子はこのギャラリー１やギャラリー２をご覧下さい。 ３）は森の中の距離１km程のシングルトラック（1m程の幅のコース）を登りは搬送車を利用し、下りをみんなで楽しみます。所々にマウンテンバイクならではの自然の地形を利用したジャンプや丸太越え等が出てきます。MTB経験者ならどなたでも参加でき、夕方17：30より暗くなるまで楽しめます。コースの様子はこちらで。 ４）は２）と同じですね。 ５）は１）と同じスキー場内ですが初心者向けにゲレンデのなだらかな所を利用し、起伏も少ない割とフラットな所で下りを楽しみます。こちらも搬送は車で行い、距離は８００mほどです。マウンテンバイクで下りを楽しんでみたいけど経験も無くダウンヒル専用車をお持ちでない方なんかに適しています。去年の様子はこちら。 ６）は２）のコースでタイムを競うレース！終了後はニセコサイクルウィークの閉会式兼表彰式が行われ、BBQパーティも開催されます！ さて、自分にあったイベントを見つけるのに参考になったでしょうか？ 2009ニセコサイクルウィークは現在申し込みを受け付けております！ タイトルの下の申込書のページより日本語または英語の申込書をオレンジの文字をクリックしてダウンロードして下さい。詳しい申し込みの方法等が記載されています！ MTBイベントに関しては申込書にもある通り、当日申し込みにはレイトフィーが加算されます。 ご面倒でも事前申し込みに寄る、当日のイベントのスムーズな開催にご協力ください！ よろしくお願いします。 ニセコマウンテンバイククラブ |

NCW are cross promoting with the Saipan 'Hell of the Marianas Century Cycle' Mark your calendars to participate in the Third Annual Hell of the Marianas Century Cycle, hosted by the Pacific Islands Club Saipan on Saturday, December 5, 2009! Graced with breathtaking scenery and challenging climbs, the 100 km / 61.3 mile course is designed to both challenge and reward you.
While the 100 km / 61.3 mile course is certainly a challenge, the HOM appeals to all levels of road and mountain bikers as participants can form a team of 4, each riding 25km, or find one other partner to ride 50km each. Of course, there are the avid cyclists tackling the century ride, adding a feather to their helmet. Cash prizes area awarded to the top three Men’s and Women’s Open finishers.
HOM are offering a NCW participant the chance to win a 3 night accommodation package for 2 during the race! |

Team Niseko did well at the Hokkaido series Wakkanai Road Race on Sunday 26th July.
With over 200 competitors from all over Hokkaido, in the various classes Team Niseko results were:
S1 160kms 1st, 3rd
S2 100kms 1st
S3 60kms 2nd
S4 40kms 4th
Showed good depth throughout the classes, and there was a lot of interest expressed by many riders towards the upcoming Niseko Cycle Week. We look forward to seeing those riders at Niseko Cycle Week 2009! |

ニセコサイクルウィーク2009
昨年からさらにパワーアップした「ニセコサイクルウィーク2009」が、8月30日（日）から開幕します。
ニセコエリアを広くアピールし、より多くの方にイベント参加をしてもらうため、今年のサイクルウィークではきめ細かく調整されたイベントスケジュールに加え、ミュージックライブやワークショップ、子供のためのアクティビティなど、自転車以外のイベントも予定されています。
夏季サイクリングには絶好の場所であるニセコの周知、という昨年の目標に加え、エリア内におけるサイクリングのためのインフラ整備とサービスの向上を目指し、有害物質を排出しない環境にやさしい自転車を活用することによる、クリーンでアクティブ、かつ健康的なライフスタイルを推奨することが、今年のニセコサイクルウィークの大きな目標となっています。
イベントの一環として、エリア内住民の皆様には、ぜひ“バイクツーワークデー”（自転車通勤デー）にご協力頂きたくお願い致します。

Niseko Cycle Week 2009 kicks off on August 30, and promises to be bigger and better than last year. This year the events schedule has been fine-tuned and will also see the introduction of more non-cycling events including live music, kids activities and so forth... all with the goal of increasing the level of participation and promoting the entire Niseko area as a whole.
Adding to the broader aims of last year's event to create awareness of Niseko as a cycling and green season destination, this year Niseko Cycle Week hopes to help improve the cycle infrastructure and services in Niseko, to promote clean, active lifestyle and health awareness, and contribute to the notion of environmental sustainability through the use of bicycles rather than automobiles.
As part of the week, local residents will be encouraged to participate in a ‘ride to work’ day.
This year's event schedule will see...

- road riding events
There will be something for the whole family, all set upon the spectacular green summer backdrop of Niseko.

Niseko - A Cycling Destination
When the snow melts in Niseko, it exposes a landscape perfectly suited to both mountain biking and road cycling in the summer months. Ask any of the local bike-mad enthusiasts and they talk about Niseko as being primed to become a future endurance training destination like Boulder, Colorado, or a mountain biking Mecca like Whistler, Canada, where the summer MTB scene rivals the winter ski scene. Back on the bitumen, the roads around Niseko are immaculately maintained with super smooth asphalt, and extra wide lanes. Traffic volumes are very light and the gently undulating countryside suits both beginners and more advanced riders. Drivers are polite and drive slowly – you’re more likely to get a friendly thumbs-up from a driver than a ‘get off the road’ toot of the horn. While Mt Annupuri provides an extraordinary range of terrain for skiers and snowboarders in winter, fast forward to summer and you can understand why the local mountain biking fraternity is so excited. A steadily growing crew of enthusiastic local and foreign riders have been busy for the past four summers working on an ever-expanding trail network across Mt Annupuri. |
